35mm Film Photography

When I was 23 I left, like many Brits, with a backpack, on a solo trip to Australia. By the time my year was up, I had moved to France with a man I had fallen in love with. After we met, we lived outside across Australia together in a truck we bought. A lot of our trip and our relationship flourished on the banks of the Murray River in South Australia. This was a very special time, in SA, the sunsets are unmatchable and the sense of freedom incomprehensible. This series, as all my work, was captured with 35mm film.

A man's back speckled with freckles and flies with a sandy beach and blue towel in the background

A man rubs his face while looking away from the camera. Sunlight flares from the light of the frame. Blue sky fills the background of the image.

The back of a man's bare upper torso fills the frame. His arms are crossed and there is a Band-Aid on the finger of the hand wrapped around his ribs.

The back of a man's bare shoulders and head are centred in front of crystal clear water. Ripples have caught light that looks like bright stars. Beneath the water multicoloured stones are warped by ripples.

A seventies era school bus with a tarp over the windshield is parked inside a yard, surrounded by leafy trees.
