November Editorial

November Editorial

Hello there,

Welcome to November, the penultimate month of 2019. But the final publishing month for us this year.

That’s right, our editors are taking a break from December 1st through to January 6th. There won’t be any new publications during that time but you can feel free to peruse the archives, buy some zines from the marketplace, and work on some great art to submit in the new year!

Our subtitle for November is ‘Summer Time Sadness’ which means we’re sharing works with shared themes of depression, loss, and hot weather. Screw walking in the rain, brow sweat will disguise our tears. Look forward to; spoken word, short stories, and, poetry.

The Baby Teeth Lit Stage at Viva La Gong

I am getting more excited by the hour for our day of literary programming at Viva La Gong. It’s basically a mini arts festival!

We’ve collaborated with some of the other amazing arts organisations and creators in Wollongong to put on some really fun events, hosted by our fave and yours Adara Enthaler, including; an in conversation with author Christine Sykes and Linda Godfrey, a bookstall run by our friends from Society City, slam poetry from the talented folks at Enough Said, who will also be doing type writer poetry throughout the day, performances from Lexicon Innovations ‘Well Fair’ workshop series, readings from our very own Never Heard of Them Anthology, and an open mic hosted by the brilliant Emily Crocker to close the day by showcasing all of you amazing folks!

Not to mention the fact that we’re surrounded by amazing food stalls, and all of the other attractions that make Viva so wonderful every year.

Find us down the very end of the park on the grass, look for a stage (duh) with lots of picnic blankets and books.

See you there!

Never Heard of Them

As you’ve just read, some of the lovely writers being published in the anthology will be performing at Viva La Gong.

Unfortunately you won’t be able to grab a copy of the book on the day because we’re still busy with typesetting and copy editing, which does always take longer than you’d really have liked it to. However we’re hoping to have the Official Launch by the end of November. Watch this space.

Patreon

Thanks once again to all of our Patreon Patrons!

Just letting ya’ll know that our Patrons are the reason this journal can exist. Because of that we like to give them some small gestures of our appreciation. Namely, bonus content, Creator Interviews, fee free submissions, free zines, and producer credits on our journal publications.

If you can make a monthly donation please consider supporting us! $1 a month gets you all of our bonus content and Creator Interviews.

Submissions Are Open!

Because we’ll be away in December this round of submissions is for publication in January 2020.

Remember that we don’t accept any submissions that don’t follow our Guidelines so be sure to read them carefully before you send us anything.

Things that go against the guidelines include; sending your work in the body of your email and not as an attached document, going over word limits, sending work in the wrong file type, and sending multiple submissions under one order number.

Submissions will be open from November 1st-25th. Can’t wait to see what you send through.
